Directors’ Meeting
May 4, 2026. 4pm. Community Hall Lounge
Present.
Doug Bolton – Special Project Director

2 members were present plus delegate Rob Fawcett.
1. Meeting called to order at 4pm.
2. Motion to approve Agenda. Moved by Dave Reed, seconded by Roy. Carried.
3. Motion to approve the Previous Meeting Minutes from April 6, 2026, as amended. Moved by Art, seconded by Dave Reed. Carried.
4. Delegation. Rob Fawcett.
The first Run, Walk, Wheel for Wellness will take place on June 20. It will go down the new Schooner Trail from the baseball park to the school. All funds raised will be matched by the newly formed Pender Foundation and will be donated to the Health Care Society.
The Pender Foundation is in the process of applying for charitable status.
A new trail up Einer’s Hill is scheduled for this summer. This will be on private land and will be constructed under the auspices of MAP. The current Valley Home Farm Trail is also scheduled for improvement. This will provide a safer route from the community hall to the Driftwood Centre.
5. Business Arising:
Outhouse Purchase.
No updates yet.
Mouat Park Update.
Mark Heieis reported that the first area has been planted and fenced and is looking good.
Dedication Policy.
A Pender option is needed.
Action: Mark and Doug will look into this.
Taxi Saver Program.
Stephen Henderson and Justine Stark of the CRD have been approached by Bob to take this program on. It should be up and running again soon and will last 6 months with a donation from the Green Angels.
Does MLPOS want to give members the opportunity to make a donation through the society to a list of societies provided by MLPOS when they renew their membership? The Taxi Saver Program could one of the societies listed.
6. Governance:
Status of AGM Governance Motion.
A motion will go to the May CRD meeting.
Islands Trust Increased DPA Area.
To date no response has been received to the letter sent by Bob to the Minister following the public meeting in April.
BC Hydro Thieves Bay Project.
There is a chance that the proposed hydro line will run closer to the cliffs rather than next to the marina.
7. Financial Report.
Joanna’s financial reports were presented to the Board.
8. Directors Reports.
Marina Report.
Peter Hodgson has purchased 10 new fire extinguishers for the marina.
Joel DaSilva will paint the lines on the marina road next week.
Installing a bike rack at the marina will be investigated.
Dave Harrison is organizing the addition of water lines down B Dock.
We need to establish the replacement value of the marina for insurance purposes.
Action: Bob will contact Ashley Williams from Heavy Metal Marine about this.
What kind of insurance should boaters at the marina have? Liability and loss?
Recreation Report.
Mike reported that the Privateers Park workparty accomplished a fair bit.
The vegetation around the courts has been cut back.
The mower is working.
The courts are well used.
Dave reported that teenagers are climbing on the gazebo, which could be very dangerous. Kids have also been spotted climbing the park trees, which is also a concern.
Action: Peter will make signs telling people to stay off the gazebos and out of the trees.
